More and more higher education institutions are striving to provide students with not only quality education, but also a more pleasant and relaxed environment for studying. Agromediterranean Faculty, at University of Split, made just such a step forward, becoming a "pet friendly" faculty, and this decision caused great enthusiasm among students.
As announced by the Faculty, the initiative behind this "pet friendly" concept came from assoc. prof. Pavao Gančević Ph.D., and the proposal was unanimously accepted at Faculty session. With this, the Agromediterranean Faculty made an important step towards creating a more open and modern academic environment for its students.
The Faculty emphasizes that several students' pets already regularly "participate" in classes and daily faculty activities, and their presence creates a relaxed atmosphere and brings positive energy among students and teaching staff.
They add that numerous studies confirm that presence of pets can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve the mood and have a positive effect on students' mental health, especially during demanding teaching and exam periods. They also believe that this approach contributes to creating a friendly and stimulating environment, strengthens sense of community and encourages socialization among students.
Given that they focus on nature, sustainability and quality of life, the Agromediterranean Faculty says that they recognized the importance of creating a space where students feel comfortable and relaxed. They also expressed hope that other University of Split components will also recognize positive effects of such initiatives on student life and the academic community.
