University of Split’s Science Awards Ceremony for 2025
Ceremony for University of Split’s science awards for the year 2025 took place on Wednesday, February 4th, in University’s Senate Hall "Don Frane Bulić." This award is given to the most productive scientists whose work made a significantly contribution to our University’s visibility and recognition, on both European and global levels.

According to scientific productivity in 2024, University Library prepared ranking lists of scientific papers indexed in WoSCC and Scopus databases, in different scientific fields. Only papers affiliated with University of Split were considered.

Central part of the ceremony was marked by a speech that University of Split’s rector, prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D. gave, emphasizing how the University continues to strengthen its scientific and international position.

I am especially pleased that there are many young scientists among the laureates, whose work elevates the reputation of our University, city of Split, and Republic of Croatia. Over the past seven years, we have strived to create preconditions for strong development of science, opening new study programs and faculties, investing in infrastructure and allocating significant funds to scientific projects. I believe that continuous investments and professional excellence are foundations of further scientific and social progress - Rector Ljutić stated.

On behalf of the laureates, prof. Janoš Terzić Ph.D., from School of Medicine expressed gratitude, pointing out that professional awards hold special meaning for scientists who often work outside the focus of public attention. He emphasized the importance of recognizing and awarding excellence, as such approach encourages development of science and society as a whole. Reflecting on the awarded paper published in journal Nature, he thanked all collaborators involved in the research, especially Blanka Milić Roje Ph.D. He pointed out that science is not a cost, as long-term investments in science are the key to solving contemporary social challenges.
