On January 13th, at the Rectorate, University of Split’s Rector, prof. Dragan Ljutić Ph.D., and the Prime Minister of Hercegovina County (Canton 10), Ivan Vukadin Ph.D., signed a Cooperation Agreement on between University of Split and Hercegovina County.
The ceremony was attended by Hercegovina County’s President of Assembly, Jozo Ćosić; Minister of Science, Education, Culture, and Sports, Ante Tadić; Minister of Agriculture, Water Management, and Forestry, Božo Perić; Minister of Finance, Ivan Ćubela; and Vice-rectors prof. Boris Maleš Ph.D., prof. Nikola Koceić-Bilan Ph.D., and prof. Bosiljka Britvić Vetma Ph.D., along with the Mediterranean Agriculture’s staff, assoc. prof. Mario Bjeliš Ph.D., prof. Frane Strikić Ph.D., and assist. prof. Pavao Gančević Ph.D.
"We will work on connecting University of Split with government institutions in Hercegovina County. The goal is for educated professionals to return, and this is the beginning of cooperation that we will build upon in the future through joint cross-border projects," Ivan Vukadin said, emphasizing that they will also develop programs to encourage the return of young people after graduation. One of Hercegovina County’s developmental goals is agriculture and livestock farming, meaning that young people will be able to apply the knowledge they gain at University of Split back home.
In previously held meetings, initial areas for joint development were identified, such as scientific and technical cooperation to support agricultural development, as well as assistance in managing the population of wild horses in the Livno area.
