This was third UNIST Career Speed Dating, an interesting combination of a speed date and a job interview, where students had the opportunity to introduce themselves to employers in five minutes. The event took place on March 14, in University of Split’s SPINIT incubator, organized by University’s Career Management Office and University Department for Professional Studies.
Ivana Hrkač from University Department of Professional Studies, 4th-year student of Trade Management and Tourism, did not hide her enthusiasm for this event as she is participating in it for the third time.
- This year I also helped in its organization, and I am happy that many students attended. Some of them who, for example, were really nervous and afraid to presenting themselves to employers last year, especially those for whom this would be their first job interview, have returned, which is very positive and makes us all happy. Since everything is very relaxed and takes place quickly, our fellow students gain self-confidence after the first conversation - Ivana Hrkač said.
This way, students get the opportunity to practice and improve their presentation in the business world, also to find traineeships and even permanent employment. Antonio Miličević from the company Deltron confirmed this, saying that the students who come to this event are highly motivated to work and ready to absorb new experiences.
- Last year we were pleasantly surprised by the turnout and quality of candidates, several of them are still working for us today. With this type of interview, first impressions are the most important thing and I would tell everyone to be authentic and honest - he said.
On behalf of University of Split, the event was opened by Vice-rector for strategic planning and management, prof. Boris Maleš Ph.D., head of University Department for Professional Studies, Petar Pepur Ph.D., and head of Career Management Office, Antonia Peroš.
Petar Pepur said that 50 students registered for this year's event, and events like this are important in their education because in it they gain real experience and contacts, thus opening doors to the world of business that awaits them after graduation.
