City of Split as EU Ambassador for Science - €6 Million Approved for Project

University of Split and the City of Split, together with German and French partners from Kiel and Brest, will hold the title of 2026 EU Ambassador for Science, as part of the prestigious project "Science Comes to Town", which is being implemented under the European University SEA-EU Alliance. The project secured €6 million in funding from Horizon Europe program. "Science Comes to Town" project will be implemented in partnership with 11 Croatian institutions. Its aim is to make science more accessible, encourage evidence-based decision-making, and bring research work closer to citizens of all generations.

Split will pay particular attention to developing science-based decision-making, focusing on sustainable and informed solutions to modern social challenges.

More than 70 international organizations will participate in creating a rich scientific program during two years of project implementation.

In addition to City and University of Split, other Croatian institutions involved in the project include Institute for Adriatic Crops and Karts Reclamation, Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries, Split-Dalmatia County Centre of Excellence, Robotics Association "Inovatic," Sailing club Zenta, City of Split’s Technical Culture Community, Photo club Split, Cine club Split, and Marko Marulić City Library.
