- Goal is to give importance to journalism, unfortunately, journalism has been unfairly degraded for a number of years because the world of journalism opened up to anonymous individuals, various organizations, lobbyists, activists... During this time, no distinction is made between journals and other media, which is not good and citizens are confused - Viktorija Car pointed out.

Through a series of initiated activities, member states exchange information with the aim of raising each citizen’s awareness, so he would be able to recognize and critically consider disinformation.

- We are working to strengthen media literacy, promoting campaigns in schools and among young people to develop awareness of disinformation and to involve them in election processes - said the head of the European Commission’s Office in Croatia.

The minister also praised the organization of this conference on current topics.

- It is extremely important to draw clear lines, to insist on safeguarding professional journalism and well-financed media as one of the pillars of democracy - the Minister concluded, presenting number of measures, from legislation to implementation, in order to raise the level of news creators, but also to strengthen citizens' media literacy, so they can distinguish information from disinformation.

The conference was attended by esteemed experts and scientists from the field of journalism and media who spoke about current phenomena, trends and challenges in the media environment, emphasizing the importance of developing professional journalism, promoting knowledge and education as prerequisites for any professional activity.
