For the third year in a row, University of Split was ranked in all 17 sustainable development goals in Times Higher Education’s (THE) Impact Rankings. THE University Impact Rankings is a major global ranking system that comprehensively assesses universities on their commitment to United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The ranking is based on university teaching, research, management and outreach.
Due to its social, economic and environmental impact, in this prestigious annual ranking, University of Split took first place in Croatia and, at the international level, it is ranked in the category 201-300, competing with almost 2,000 higher education institutions from 125 countries. This result represents a significant shift in relation to University’s results on THE Impact scale from 2022 and 2023.
As in overall world ranking, University of Split achieved progress in 16, out of 17 goals, and was particularly recognized in the following SDG categories:
· 62nd place out of 987 institutions in Goal 7: Affordable and clean energy
· 31st, out of 1149 institutions in Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth
"Providing positive and meaningful impact on community is at the heart of everything we do at our University. This result inspires and motivates us to continue improving conditions for our students and all employees, also to be a force for change in the environment," Rector Dragan Ljutić said. "It is a testament to our staff, students and researchers’ dedication, who have been working diligently to make a positive difference. "
In order to monitor and record these activities in a systematic and timely manner, committees were appointed to monitor activities. These committees’ basic tasks are University of Split and its components’ activities and achievements monitoring, promoting those activities that contribute to particular goals, and preparing individual reports on activities carried out.
